Venice Design Week (3- 11 october 2020) comes to the eleventh edition of the festival dedicated to innovation and design, bringing ideas and projects from all over the world to the city and at the same time, enhancing local crafts and culture paths. Over the years a map has been developed that allows the participant to discover craft workshops where the boundary between art and craft is in a thin line.

Venice Design Week, sponsored by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, the Veneto Region, the City of Venice and the Chamber of Commerce, is part of the Italian design week and in the networks of other design weeks of the world as well. The theme chosen for the VDW 2020 edition is „Design a step forward”: It’s an invitation to design the objects that surround us and improve them with creativity, for ergonomics or technology. By questioning form and function with an incremental process that starts from the design of a now stereotyped object, redesigns it, giving it new life.

 

The way of carrying out the week, in such a special year will be both online and between streets and squares, the exhibitions can be visited respecting the physical distance. Those who want to participate will be able to follow the different points on the map and can book the appointments with a guide which will also be made on request for small groups. All the conferences will be available to those that prefer to join with an internet connection, thus expanding the fruition and participation to the national and international public.

Among the conferences we mention the meeting on mobility.The challenge for a more peaceful future to be held on Friday 9 October. The meeting on creativity that becomes the engine for conscious tourism and The awards ceremony of the three competitions organized by Venice Design Week will be an opportunity to discuss the chosen theme. The VDW JEWELRY SELECTION international competition, now in its seventh edition, has as its theme „transgression” with twelve selective designers. VDW LIGHT ART AND COLORS International competition, with the patronage of ADI Industrial Design Association of Veneto and Trentino Alto Adige, is dedicated to interior lighting design, the design of lamps and lighting fixtures, the award ceremony will be held on Sunday 11 October.INSTRUMENTADESIGN is an International competition that aimed at designers and planners from all over the world will present objects that are inspired by the ancient heritage and will be an opportunity to dialogue with professors.

 

 

Venice Design Week will give the designers, who want to participate, the opportunity to compare their ideas, thus increasing knowledge and creativity.

Mihaela Ion este manager cultural cu o experienţă de peste 17 ani în cadrul industriei creative şi culturale româneşti şi cu un doctorat în istorie. Pe lângă educaţia universitară dedicată istoriei artei, Mihaela s-a specializat în domeniul managementului cultural în Londra şi Paris prin bursele acordate acesteia, de către Fundaţia Gabriela Tudor şi Ministerul Culturii din Franţa. Este evaluatoare independentă pentru diferiţi cofinanţatori publici. Curatoriază expoziţii în diferite galerii de artă şi spaţii de consum de artă, din România şi străinătate.
