The event, promoted by the Cultural Association Arte Design Venezia, will take place from August 25th to September 25th in the historic location of Palazzo Nani Mocenigo – Admore gallery on the occasion of the Festival „The Italian Glass Week 2022”.
Appointment on September 18 at 11:00 am at the Nani Mocenigo Palace for the meeting with the designers of The Transparent Breath, the exhibition that sees as protagonists international artists of glass jewelry. The exhibition will be part of the program of events of The Italian Glass Weeks festival, a new important festival organized as part of the 2022 United Nations International Year of Glass. The first week of the event will be held in Milan from 10th to 18th September 2022 and will be dedicated mainly to industrial glass. The second week, however, will be held in Venice from 17th to 25th September 2022 and will be dedicated to artistic glass. The Festival, presented and promoted by the organizers of Vision Milan Glass Week and The Venice Glass Week, aims to show, promote and support glass in Italy at national and international level.
As is well known, Venice is famous worldwide for its thousand-year tradition of glassware. The Transparent Breath celebrates the genius of the artist, the breath that shapes the material and makes it as unique as it is eternal. Ancestral entities such as fire, breath and the hand of man become protagonists in celebrating the noble and ancient material of glass, reinterpreting it in a contemporary way and offering viewers a glimpse of the contemporary panorama of glass jewelry. The selected artist’s jewels are housed in a real treasure chest: the ancient Palazzo Nani Mocenigo now home to the Hotel Nani Mocenigo, a few steps from the Gallerie dell’Accademia, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and the Basilica of Santa Maria della Salute. The exhibition is curated by Lisa Balasso and Eleonora Varotto.
The jewels on display
The creations on display were made according to different glass processing techniques; blown glass, lampwork, glass casting. Among the blown glass creations we find the blue bubbles of DriftLand, the molecular shapes of the pieces of sio2 Glass Jewelry (Spain), the necklaces of Antonija Gospić (Croatia) that with their metamorphic pearls invite us to come out victorious from the dark period that have been the last two years of pandemic. The route continues with the transparent bubbles of Kopoli (Japan), the sculptural and always current rings of Agustina Ros (Spain), the evocative creations of Olga Tabakova, the sea creatures of Cecilia López Bravo (USA), the experimental works of Cortestudioglass (Italy) and the precious reflections in the blown pearls of Muriel Balensi (Italy). The ancient processing of lampwork becomes emblem in the dream-visionary rings of Atelier Alessandra directly from the island of Murano, in the pearls inspired by nature and the marine world of Móró Barbara Glass (Hungary) one different from the other and the precious talismans of Anna Boothe (USA) as well as in Amy West’s pastel pearls. Several variations of shiny chains are shaped by the skilful hands of Minori Takagi (Canada) and Glass Berries (Latvia).
The almost pictorial creations of Celina Glass Art (Germany) as well as the fused pendants of David Melamed (Canada) and the more sculptural ones of Alexandra Mezo (Ireland) are excellent examples of the fusion technique. The cosmic jewels of Ioanna Art Jewelry (Serbia), and the wearable creations of L’Etoile de Verre are instead configured as an example of Tiffany processing technique. The exhibition is completed by the luminous sculptures by Ana Marìa Reque Sotelo.
