The exhibition, organized by the Cultural Association Arte Design Venezia, will take place from September 5th to 29th in the prestigious setting of Palazzo Nani Mocenigo – Galleria ADmore, on the occasion of „The Venice Glass Week 2024”.

The third edition of the international exhibition The Transparent Breath will be presented on Sunday, September 15th at 10:30 AM at Palazzo Nani Mocenigo, featuring contemporary talents in artistic glass jewelry. The exhibition showcases 50 selected jewelry pieces created by 20 international artists. Each piece reflects the artistic language of its creator, offering an intriguing perspective on the countless possibilities that a material like glass offers in the field of contemporary jewelry and ornament. Once again, the lagoon city, with its millennia-old glassmaking tradition, reaffirms itself as the epicenter of a contemporary reinterpretation of this noble art.  “We are thrilled to present, for the third consecutive year, a selection of contemporary glass jewelry capable of enchanting and inspiring those who admire them, fostering dialogue on their inclusion in such a rich cultural heritage as that of Venice”. – says Eleonora Varotto, curator of the project.

The exhibition reconfirms itself as an integral part of the rich event schedule of The Venice Glass Week 2024, the international festival founded in 2017 that the city of Venice dedicates to the art of glassmaking. The eighth edition of the festival will be held from September 14th to 22nd, 2024. The Venice Glass Week is promoted and organized by the City of Venice, the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, LE STANZE DEL VETRO – Fondazione Giorgio Cini, the Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti, and Consorzio Promovetro Murano. Krista Bermeo – Glass Ring

In this third edition of The Transparent Breath, we find the jewelry of Joanna Muzyka (Poland) symbolizing the balance created between radiant beauty and potential danger, capturing both vulnerability and empowerment. Claire England’s (Spain) sculptural rings tell stories of past lives where recycled glass is the sole protagonist. Veronika Fabian (UK – Hungary) creates her jewelry by reconstructing everyday objects identified as important in people’s lives. Jasminka Begić (Croatia) weaves glass as if it were embroidery, creating enchanting and unexpected pieces; Liudmila Egorova symbolizes in her creations the transformation of the creative process: from human natural creativity to artificial intelligence. Luz Arias’s (Argentina) delicate chains embody unique shapes and colors reflected through transparent glass. Loor Oukal (Palestine)’s artistic research is based on memories and the performativity of material forces in events like glass and its ‘invisible’ presence in our daily lives. Fascinated by movement and mechanisms, Karen Kriegel’s (USA) jewelry engages the audience by combining different materials in unexpected ways. Combining glass, metal, and leather, the two founders of Clangbag (Italy) create unique pieces like the one on display, expressing authenticity and craftsmanship, the result of Italian excellence. Sente Takayuki Ota (Japan) plays with the movements of water, recreating them in his ethereal jewelry; in contrast, Krista Bermeo (USA) makes the light of fire wearable through her captivating and colorful pieces. Aleksandra Kujawska (Poland) metamorphic sculptures silently watch over the gallery.

Among the artists returning from previous editions are Alexandra Mezo (Ireland), who seals her beloved grandmother’s embroidery in glass; Celina Szelejewska-Pigulla (Germany), who with her unique method of fusing multiple layers of glass and painting, gives each of her pieces an intriguing depth effect. Iveta Linde (Latvia) paints with glass, telling stories through her pendants. David Yeshia (Canada) uses glass as a medium to mediate light, with the goal of capturing and freezing moments in time. Barbara Moro’s (Hungary) necklace is instead inspired by the spicy colors of India.

Joining them are three young and talented artists: Emma Calce (Italy), who, studying the concept of biomimicry, has created a project reflecting on the relationship between man and nature. Ève Chevara (France) creates her jewelry inspired by ancient and medieval art, the works of Klimt and Calder, and the seascapes of her childhood. Dominyka Gulbinaitė (Lithuania), on the other hand, evokes the luminous beauty of life through her rings.
